Jonas Templestein - Monzo

Jonas Templestein - Monzo

Jonas is one of the co-founders of Monzo for the first few years of Monzo. During this time, he grew the team from a small handful of engineers to over 100. Jonas has a passion for building scalable, extensible organisations and is spending most of his time on that in his current role. Jonas graduated from the University of Cologne with a degree in Mathematics at the age of 19 and went on to complete a second degree in Computer Science and Technology Management at the Technical University of Munich. He spent three years in San Francisco where he worked on a number of startups including a Y Combinator funded venture and AngelList. Jonas met fellow Monzo co-founder Tom, whilst working for a dating app in New York. He agreed to help Tom out on his startup for three months before a planned move to Chile. Nearly four years later, Jonas is yet to make that move... In 2018, Jonas was named in Forbes’ European 30 under 30 in Tech.

Monzo is a new digital challenger bank, founded in early 2015 with the simple mission to build the best current account in the world. In August 2016, they became fully regulated and now have a team of more than 250 at their London HQ and remotely around the world. Over 500,000 people in the UK now use Monzo to spend and manage their money with thousands more joining every week.
