THE COMPANY

We started working on Phare Labs because of a false alarm. Or, rather, multiple false alarms. Our smoke alarms kept going off for no reason at all, and this frustrated us. Why did they seem to go off for everything but smoke?

We quickly discovered that we weren’t alone. There wasn’t just a problem with our smoke alarms: there was a problem with everyone’s smoke alarms so we set out to fix it.

THE PROBLEM

Fires (excluding wildfires) cause over £55 Billion in property damage and take thousands of lives every year, and smoke alarms are partly to blame. They miss 40% of fires. They have an 89% false alarm rate. They frustrate users so much that 55% of all alarms are removed or deliberately disabled. They’re wrong more than they’re right, putting people and property at risk every day.

THE SOLUTION

Phare detects fires early and accurately. It uses a combination of new sensors and AI to detect 50% more fires than smoke alarms, respond to them 76% earlier, and reduce false alarms by 98%, preventing financial losses and saving lives.
