The BioFactory Ltd, focused on manufacturing, distributing and managing dramatically improved sanitation facilities that are specifically designed for low-income, high population density markets, delivered through a profitable and scalable business model. Our systems completely retain the waste until fully treated, eliminating the risk of human contact from dangerous waste, often required in other sanitation solutions. Using the proven process of electromethanogenisis, our systems treat the waste on-site into biogas, which can be used as a safer and more reliable, alternative cooking fuel to charcoal. We have validated the need for off-grid toilet-waste processing systems, like ours, in schools, informal settlements and refugee camps in sub-Saharan Africa, through a DFID trade mission to Kenya we were invited on. Our innovative business model will allow the management of our systems to be profitable through income generated from biogas sales.
